Sometimes I find beautiful compositioins in trash piles.  I know - my friends think I am crazy examing piles of garbage, but then once I print the snapshots out - they see what i saw and agree that trash can be lovely!

Abstract Iris Photo's in an Artist Book

I love mixing up the medias that I use and using my photo's in my books, paper collages in my FAB collages, and  using everything that I have learned in my artist books.  It's just too much fun!  It is hard to show you an entire artist book in photos because  there are too many pages and you would lose the sequential aspect.  But I have snapped 3 different pages of one of my artist books showing how I used the abstract iris snaps to illustrate one of my books.

Speaking of  a picket fence - here is a crazy photo I took of an art piece at Storm King.  It was a mirror picket fence that I maneuvered around to get a great reflection of the landscape behind me. Gosh - I bet I got a great "self portrait" as well!

My cousin David and his lovely wife commissioned me to make a happy garden quilt and this is what I came up with. I love quilts that you can keep looking at and see new things all the time - the way the bugs are hidden and the little "treasures" are discovered every time you actually look at the piece.

I love to look at books in a different way.  Books mean so much to me, not only in their content, and their potential, but also I also love their sculptural qualities.  The pages of a book help me fly away from my mundane life sometimes.

We are in the middle of rehabbing our kitchen. I am the "purchasing agent" and I might shoot myself!  I have a fabulous contractor and plumber, but the rest of the cast of characters are driving me crazy with their excuses and no shows.  Anyway, I'm also feeling financial pressure.  This isn't a complete renovation but a rehab. I have been looking at a hole in the ceiling for 20 years and finally it will be replaced and a new floor too!  I can't wait until it is finished and we can enjoy it, but right now I want to scream!

Love of Nature - A Mica Book

This book is made with sheets of mica.  Some of them are from natural mica and are quite clear, while others are manufactured for lampshades and they have more color and are opaque "ish".  I created this book immediately after the horrific tsunami in Japan.  I developed an imaginary correspondence between a Japanese gardener and a European botanist that wrote letters back and forth sharing their "Love of Nature".
