Quilt - Ying Yang

Ying Yang Shibori

Sometimes I don't want to make a big piece.  In a  shibori class I stitched this design into a piece of cloth and then dipped it into a blue dye bath.  I love the "wabi-sabi" way the stitches resisted the dye, but kept the design whole.  The other day I finally took a circle guide out of the packaging and tried it out - what fun!

Museum of Art and Design - MAD - Wood

Old and New

Tea Ceremony Chair

Gehry Tea Kettle

Paddle

What I loved about the wood exhibit at the Museum of Art and Design was the lighting.  The way they lit each piece made the form have a whole new dimension.

Artist Books - "Two Books Boxing" book structure - developed by Michael Jacobs

This is a very cool book structure. There are two boxes that 2 books slip into - this shot is of all four sides. I use different images that make up a narrative.  The "blue books" slip in and out of the boxes for their own story.

In this "Modern Day Paris" you can see the structure a little better - sans the insert books.

Quilt - Galapagos Night Diving

Galapagos Night Diving

My Mother was  a hoot.  She and her sister went to the Galapagos Islands well into their 70's and had enough foresight to realize that the botanical tour might be boring. So they brought along snorkel equipment and snuck into the water and swam. They found themselves swimming with the sea lions and the beasts playfully bumped and swam with these two little old ladies.

Later I found this passage of two scuba divers who magically found themselves part of an acrobatic light show in bioluminescent waters with other sea lions.  It makes me cry to think of the beauty of our earth.
