What's in the Lantern - quilt block

Lantern

A friend of mine gave me a cloth prayer from Thailand and I cut out this little bird and surrounded it with a lantern shape. This is one of my "Dear Jane" blocks, finished at 4.5", but I love that I have hidden little personal messages to myself in the quilt.

I  love planting zinnia's, they seem to attract life into the garden.  Especially hummingbirds. I have 3 feeders on my deck and I love to quietly sit out there at dusk with a glass of chilled white wine and watch them come to feed. I have two feeders that have little bars for them to sit on while feeding and  those are their favorites. Of course they want to sit while they dine!



 

Patio Furniture

Tis the season to set up the patio, fill the deck pots, and set up the outdoor spaces, so you can enjoy them during the summer months.  I have been busy setting up my clients patios and decks and mine won't be done until theirs are, but I hope YOU have set up yours!  Enjoy the barbecue!

Beauty is Dangerous

There is nothing like a good artist friend who wants to buy one of your pieces.  I have had so many generous friends and I think of them whenever I come upon a snap of the work.  Carol Boyer bought Beauty is Dangerous. She has been a great friend over the years. You know the type, just when the blues gets you down, somehow she knows and a thoughtful "art card" appears in the mail.

I am an avid book maker and to become good at it, you need to practice, so I make a lot of books. This "stack" was made when I was practicing sewing bindings "on tapes" and "on cords".  These books are usually "blank" with no content, but I include decorated pages so they are not truly blank.
